Charge our mobile phone, and have the numbers of a reliable taxi service, or
friend who can assist us should the need arise
Mark any portable audio system/DVD players, cameras, etc. with our postcode
Make sure someone knows where we are going and when we will return
Ensure our home appears occupied at all times. Place some lights on a timer switch, and a radio on a chat show. Always come home to a light
Lock your windows and doors and, if appropriate, set the alarm. Make sure our side gate is locked
We should travel with all our senses! If we really cannot live without our iPod or MP3 player then we must keep the player discreetly hidden.
