Why We Do It
![]() |
To make Spelthorne a safer place.
It is recognised a neighbourhood watch is key to combating crime, achieved by residents working in partnership with the Safer Neighbourhood police teams, local authorities and other agencies. Sadly all too often a watch only starts up after someone in the road has suffered from criminal activity.
People who know their neighbour is watching out for them feel safer and less afraid of crime.
They also become familiar with crime prevention ideas to keep their home and belongings safe. And, as well as benefiting from the extra security of belonging to a Neighbourhood Watch scheme, members can obtain a premium discount from insurance companies.
Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators care enough about combating crime and helping others in their street to avoid being a victim of crime to give up some of their spare time.
Our aim is to expand the coverage of SNHW to the majority of Spelthorne's streets.
